Made for the 40th anniversary of Alien, Ripley is centered like a scifi version of a renaissance Madonna with Child. The spaceship Nostromo (Italian meaning boatswain) is her nimbus (halo). The child is replaced with the Alien, representing the birth of this amazing franchise. Ripley’s pose comes from a famous promotional photo of Sigourney Weaver cradling the cat from the film, Jonesy.
